Podcast Editing

Do you loving making your podcast but don't have time to edit it the way you would like? I get this. It takes a lot of time to nurture an episode into the beautifully sounding creature it can be.

I want to help you create these kind of podcast episodes.

Before we go any further, you deserve to know what my editing sounds like. The best way to do that is with examples from my own podcasts. Don't worry, you don't need to listen to all of the episodes. Feel free to jump to the middle of any of these episodes to get a sense of the sound, content and so on.

Example 1: 2 track recording on Geopats Language
Here is a recent interview with Kerstin from The Fluent Show podcast. This interview was done as a double ender. This means that we both recorded our own recording on our computers and I later combined and edited them as two tracks. This type of recording is ideal because it gives the most freedom in removing unwanted sounds (like coughing, pen clicking, etc), words (like when people naturally talk over each other) and more. However, not all guests are able to record on their end, so the next example will focus on an alternative.

Example 2: 1 track Zoom Cloud Recording on Geopats Coffee:

Ana is not a Podcaster but she does have a scrupulous social media food presence that covers restaurants in Prague, in the Czech Republic. So, I used a simple recording technique of a combined track on Zoom Cloud Recording. This method works okay in a pinch, as long as both parties wear headphones to prevent voice echoing.

Example 3: Varied recording inputs (mobile phone, Speakpipe and microphones) on Geopats Podcasting:
Sometimes I like to do episodes where I want to samples of many people. This was the case in the below episode. I asked one question (that you can see in the title below) and Podcasters answered however they wished. My job was to make the sound as similar throughout the episode as I could with many different recording devices used. I also got to play with the content order quite a bit, which is always fun to do.

As you can see from above, there are many things to consider when editing a podcast episode. I can edit your podcast for:
- sound (removal, leveling and more)
-content (removal, order, relevancy, etc)
and
-authority (word removals like "only", excessive crutch words like "eh and um" that may make your guest sound less certain or knowledgeable than they are.
