Social media can be fun and frustrating for anyone but for Podcasters, this dichotomy takes on a whole new level of the rollercoaster. Shaun of the Germany Experience takes time to reflect on his episode with us last year, when he was just a few episodes into his podcasting adventure.

We are firmly seated in the United States for this episode. Well, I (Steph) am currently in Tirana, Albania (check https://www.instagram.com/stephfuccio/?hl=en on IG or https://twitter.com/stephfuccio on Twitter for more about this) but my guest, Aseloka Smith of the Colored Girl Beautiful podcast, is in the U.S. With Geopats Podcasting we hope to shake up your podcast creation process by listening to  how others use the medium around the world and Aseloka will definitely get your creative juices flowing with what and how she has done The Colored Girl Beautiful. Also inspiring is our sponsor for this episode, Podcorn. They are a marketplace connecting Podcasters to Advertisers. There is more information about their services at 14:23 in this episode but for now I just want to say thanks Podcorn, for the sponsorship.

Although Aseloka was touched by the places in Latin America that she lived earlier in her life, it is time her travel to engage with African-American singer, political activist and the Author of the book The Colored Girl Beautiful (TCGB) that inspired the podcast,
E. Azalia Hackley ,  that brings her on the show.

14: Podcasting in Bengaluru (Bangalore), India with Vishnu from the Writer and Geek Podcast

We hope to shake up your podcast creation process by hearing how others use the medium around the world. Today, we are headed to India, to talk to Vishnu Padmanabhan from the Writer and Geek podcast. Vishnu is a Podcaster by night (literally) and an Engineer by day but admits that photography would be his alternate career, if possible. If you’re a fan of the Geopats Coffee podcast then you’re familiar with Vishnu’s Co-Host and brother, Shankar.

Vishnu and I covered everything that you can in podcasting, including: their podcast setup, dividing up tasks with a Co-Host (even if they are your brother!), podcasts in India, editing tech and tips, audience, outsourcing, podcast hosts, Podcasters community in India, advice for new Podcasters and more.

Sound note: This interview was recorded pre-covid, when I was living in an apartment with extremely bad internet. Part of the delay with this episode is due to the sound issues that came up in post because of these tech issues. When we recorded, the podcast was hosted on Podbean and we decided to experiment with their beta audio live feature to chat with the audience. This was a lot of fun but had some disadvantages. Although we did a double ender for our own tracks (Vishu and I), the Podbean live track with the wonderful callers is NOT the best sound quality. So, if you are sensitive to that, feel free to skip ahead about 8 minutes once you get to that part. It's about halfway into the episode.

If you like this episode, feel free to buy me a coffee:

Geopats Podcasting's podcast host is Captivate FM: An insanely Creator oriented hosting service with personality, marketing know how and more. So yea, I highly recommend them, lol. https://my.captivate.fm/signup?ref=geopatsmy.captivate.fm/signup?ref=geopats

13: Accessibly Organizing Podcasts with Podchaser's CEO/Co-Founder Bradley Davis

This episode is a special one for sure. As many of you who have been listening to the podcast, follow me on the socials or participate in #PodRevDay know, I am a huge fan ofPodchaser, the IMDB of Podcasting. But some folks I talk to outside of the U.S. have expressed concerns about some Podchaser features not working as well in the country that they lived in. So, what else could I do but ask Bradley Davis, the Co-founder/CEO Podchaser on the show to ask him some globally minded Podchaser questions.

Bradley and I cover accessibility and language issues, combined geographic & language search dream functionality, the push and pull of keeping podcasting open and the messiness that organically ensues and so much more. What we intentionally don’t cover are Podchaser or Bradley’s podcasting origin stories. Why? Because they have already been well covered on other podcasts this year (Podlovers Asia, Inspired Money and The New Media Show), so I am instead adding to these episodes in the show notes at https://www.stephfuccio.com/geopatspodcasting/13

Kevin Mwachiro of Nipe Story Podcast is a powerful storyteller. Listening to his audio stories is akin to listening to a captivating audio dance. His 18+ years of broadcasting experience have undoubtedly fine tuned his technical abilities but in my opinion it is the fire from his soul that makes his stories so strong yet so gentle. In 2017 he launched Nipe Story, a story-telling podcast which produces audio versions of short-story fiction from the African continent. He is also queer rights activist.
