Geopats Language

27: Language Talk with Yunus Emre Karasakal: Brazilian Jiujitsu Instructor in Shanghai, China

This week due to an evil head cold I have something different for you. This mini language episode includes:
-a personal German language update (get ready to cringe)
and
-an unpublished language snippet from a previous interview with Yunus from September 2019

Actually, this cold has turned into a blessing in disguise because I have been wanting to share this language moment with you since I found it late last year when I was cleaning up my audio files. Yunus was on the Virtual Expats show on Geopats last year  (link below) but I cut this segment out of that episode because it veered from the show's focus. But ever since the experimentation with mini episodes during National Podcast Podcasting Month in November, I've been experimenting with shorter episodes, so here we go.

If you are curious, the full internet focused episode from September 2019 with Yunus is here:

More about Yunus Emre Karasakal:
He is a long term Turkish expat living in Shanghai, China. Yunus is a Brazilian JiuJitsu (BJJ) Instructor here as well as an Abu Dhabi World Pro Masters Champion (Brown Belt) and an IBJJF Asian Open Champion (Brown and Black Belt). Yes, for the language geeks, he gives BJJ instruction in English and Chinese.

While I was putting together this mini episode I discovered that Yunus was on the Stuck In The Middle Podcast in 2016. If you follow me on the socials, you know this is one of my favorite podcasts out there. Here is why: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/stuck-in-the-middle-107462/reviews/17224. So if you find Yunus just as interesting as I do, check out his conversation with Andy Curtain on Stuck In The Middle here:
